Raven Dance Team - Lee Summit Competition

life as a dancer

For most people, summer is the time where you get to relax and forget about your problems by the beack or on vaction or maybe even just watching Netflix in your bed, but the case is not the same for me. During the summer I spend 4-6 hour practices in a poorly air-conditioned studio, doing cardio and conditioning. We do sprints, crunches, puh-ups, anything yu can think of, and then, on top of that, we're leaping through the air and balancing our entire body weight on the balls of our feet while turning at impossible speeds. You might not think it, but a lot of work goes into the art of dancing. Walking up stairs is a challenege from constantly being sore.

I love my dance friends. I haven't yet had a bond with a group of people that compares tot his one. I know it sounds pretty cheesy and all, but it's true, they're like family to me. We spend time together like family, we fight like family, not to mention we're quite hilarious when we're all together. Looking back I know this sport has provided me with moments I will cherish for a lifetime.
